Pharrell Williams

Moët & Chandon, the quintessential champagne Maison, understands that celebrating another year of life is really about celebrating those who share it with us. In an inspired collaboration with visionary artist Pharrell Williams, the Maison has brought to life “The Birthday Tradition” – a limited-edition champagne collection that wraps the magic of birthdays in art and luxury. Both Moët & Chandon and Pharrell are driven by a shared optimism and collective spirit, and together they have reimagined the birthday experience through the eyes of the loved ones who gather to toast you. The result is an exclusive creation that honors the true essence of a birthday: not the gifts or the party, but the people whose presence makes the moment extraordinary

A Toast with Meaning: The Concept Behind the Collaboration

Pharrell Williams infuses his creative energy and trademark positivity into this project, elevating the birthday tradition to new heights. For Moët & Chandon, birthdays are less about personal indulgence and more about the people who come together to celebrate. As Pharrell himself notes, “the best part about a birthday are the people who want to celebrate it with you”. Fittingly, his very first champagne toast was with Moët & Chandon, cementing the Maison’s place in his own traditions. This collaboration extends that sentiment, encouraging everyone to embrace birthdays as a chance to cherish those who make them special.

Moët & Chandon, in turn, has long been synonymous with iconic celebrations. For generations, the Maison’s champagne has graced birthday tables from royal courts to Hollywood’s most exclusive soirées. In 1965, Paul Newman toasted his 40th with Moët; in 2014 Scarlett Johansson marked her 30th with her twin brother and a Moët in hand; tennis legend Roger Federer still celebrates each birthday with a bottle of the famed Maison’s champagne. This new collection continues that legacy with an innovative spin, ensuring every bottle becomes part of the occasion. Born of a shared vision of collective joy and human connection, Moët & Chandon x Pharrell “The Birthday Tradition” transforms birthday toasts into something both universal and deeply personal, where each detail is crafted in honor of those who gather to celebrate.

Art, Pearls and Bows: The Exclusive Bottle Design

The aesthetic of this collaboration blooms from the marriage of the Maison’s heritage and Pharrell’s contemporary creativity. While delving into Moët & Chandon’s archives, the team discovered that the bottle’s tie  today a simple cord around the neck  was historically a dapper bow back in the late 19th century

Embracing this detail from 1889, Pharrell brings back the bow as a symbol of joy, generosity, and unity , infusing the limited-edition design with storied charm and celebratory spirit. The opulent “Jewel Masterpiece” Jeroboam, with its mirrored chrome finish and removable pearl-studded bow, represents the pinnacle of the collaboration. The collection features three distinct releases, each offering a unique take on Moët’s historic bow emblem.
