PASSION IS NOT IMPROVISED, IT IS DISTILLED
At Wine for the Few, we know that some creations are not bought, they are found. Glenmorangie’s latest trilogy is not merely a collection of rare whiskies it’s a tribute to time, precision, and the silent beauty of craftsmanship. The Pursuit of Passion Wine Cask Collection is as rare as it is refined: only 600 sets exist worldwide. And yes, we have access to them.
GLENMORANGIE: MORE THAN A DISTILLERY, A DEVOTION TO PERFECTION
For over 175 years, Glenmorangie has been quietly redefining Scotch whisky from the Highlands of Scotland. But it was the visionary Dr. Bill Lumsden who elevated this devotion through bold experimentation with wine cask maturation. The result is a legacy shaped not by trends, but by purpose.
This collection is the culmination of that pursuit: three extraordinary expressions, three legendary wine regions, and nearly three decades of patient aging.
THE SOUL OF WINE IN THE BODY OF WHISKY: THE ALCHEMY OF EXCEPTIONAL CASKS
Each cask in the Pursuit of Passion collection is not just a vessel it is a sensory archive. When whisky is transferred into barrels that once nurtured great wines, a silent exchange of character, tension, and memory begins.
Margaux casks rich with the tannins and black fruits of Cabernet Sauvignon bring structure and layered depth. Corton-Charlemagne casks, once filled with Chardonnay grown in the limestone soils of Burgundy, lend minerality, bright acidity, and creamy textures. Barbaresco casks, touched by the tannic finesse of Nebbiolo, impart earthy spice and haunting persistence.
Each whisky in this trilogy is a poetic interpretation of European terroir through a Highland lens.
Creating such a composition demands more than technique it requires the rare instinct to let the wood speak, the spirit breathe, and the whisky sing. And behind it all, the process begins with Glenmorangie's signature approach: mineral rich water from the Tarlogie Springs, Scotland’s tallest stills for exceptional lightness, and a slow, deliberate maturation that allows every nuance of the cask to be expressed without interruption.
THREE WHISKIES, THREE TERROIRS, ONE SINGULAR EXPERIENCE
GLENMORANGIE 29 YEARS – MARGAUX WINE CASK FINISH (52.5%)

GLENMORANGIE 29 YEARS – MARGAUX WINE CASK FINISH (52.5%)
Cask origin: Ex-red wine barrels from Margaux, Bordeaux — Cabernet Sauvignon dominant.
Cask influence: These French oak casks enhance the whisky with deep cassis, graphite minerality, and refined tannins, reminiscent of aged Bordeaux elegance.
Tasting notes: On the nose, violets, blackcurrant, and aged tobacco. The palate unfolds with black cherry, exotic spices, and dark chocolate. A lingering finish whispers of black truffle and cedar.
Significance: Distilled in 1995—the very year Dr. Bill Lumsden joined Glenmorangie. A personal and technical milestone encased in spirit.
Maturation insight: After 29 years of aging, the whisky transcends time. The long contact with wood softens the alcohol, intensifies complexity, and delivers a silky structure that younger whiskies cannot emulate.
Glenmorangie 28 YEARS – Corton-Charlemagne Wine Cask Finish (52.1%)

Cask origin: Ex-white wine Grand Cru barrels from Corton-Charlemagne, Burgundy — Chardonnay.
Cask influence: These rare white wine casks imbue the whisky with notes of citrus oils, toasted almonds, and a distinctive limestone freshness.
Tasting notes: Fragrant aromas of jasmine and honeysuckle transition into crème brûlée, heather honey, and nutty praline. The mouthfeel is lush and creamy, with hints of spiced pineapple and warm oak.
What makes it unique: The only one in the series matured in white wine casks, delivering an ethereal elegance unlike any other Glenmorangie to date.
Maturation insight: After 28 years, the whisky achieves a perfect balance between the freshness of the Chardonnay wood and the depth of aged malt—something only time can sculpt.
Glenmorangie 27 YEARS – Barbaresco Wine Cask Finish (51.3%)

Cask origin: Ex-red wine barrels from Barbaresco, Piedmont — Nebbiolo grape.
Cask influence: Nebbiolo's famed tannic complexity and floral-spicy profile infuse the whisky with savory earth tones, dry cherry and tobacco character.
Tasting notes: A bouquet of dried figs, red apple, and soft leather on the nose. The palate is rich in black cherry reduction, clove, and spiced oak. The finish is warm, long, and contemplative.
Backstory: Dr. Lumsden began experimenting with Italian wine casks in 2005, inspired by a family-run vineyard in Piedmont. Nearly two decades later, his vision comes to life.
Maturation insight: With 27 years of evolution, this whisky walks the line between power and precision—where age doesn’t fade, it refines.
THE CASE: A MASTERPIECE IN WOOD AND MEMORY
Each set is housed in a handcrafted European oak chest, with inlays echoing the landscapes of Margaux, Corton-Charlemagne, and Barbaresco. Designed by a Scottish artisan who previously crafted pieces for haute horlogerie, this case is not for display. It is meant to be inherited.
A collector’s item, quietly extravagant.
